2019 Year in Review
What a year! Condition-wise, the 2019 golf season shaped up to be one of the best in recent memory, with the courses keeping tip-top shape from the start of April through the fall. The game of golf is growing in Kamloops, and what better way to celebrate then recapping some of our favourite golf moments in 2019.
Golf Fam Tours
It was time to shed some light on the untapped golf haven that Kamloops is. This spring, our GolfKamloops team and collection of partner courses had the privilege to host six golf influencers from around North America to tour our distinct golf layouts and embrace the local swing of things.
Among those documenting their adventures in Kamloops were Jason Deegan, a senior golf journalist from GolfAdvisor and Instagram golf contributor Patrick Koenig, both of which provided unique perspective on how Kamloops shapes up as a must-see golf destination. Here’s what they had to say:
JD: “It might be the most under-appreciated golf destination in the West, and that includes Canada and America.”
PJK: “I would rank Tobiano as one of the top 10 most beautiful golf courses that I have seen in my travels.”
The group was treated to rounds of golf at six of Kamloops’ most popular golf designs, including the top Canadian ranked Tobiano and critically-acclaimed Talking Rock Golf Resort. In addition to looping through the links, the group had the opportunity to experience BC’s fastest growing wine region on a guided tour through Tastefull Excursions, spend a day on Kamloops Lake with Bruker Marina, and tap into the local craft beer scene at the popular Noble Pig.

During their tour through our distinct golf course architecture, they generated never-before-seen imagery of the courses in Kamloops and demonstrated what can be found on a jaunt through the BC interior on one’s next golf vacation. Golf Getaway Contests
The first of the two giveways saw GolfKamloops team up with Global TV to launch a 4-round, 4-night all-inclusive excursion complete with daily golf, premier dining and a guided wine tour to some of Kamloops most popular vineyards. The Global TV spotlight helped the contest generate nearly 25,000 entries and sparked heavy buzz from all corners of the province.
The second, a Fall Golf Getaway contest that was geared toward all the fly-fishing enthusiasts out there. Offered up was a chance to win 4 rounds of golf, 3-night accommodation, and a day spent casting with experienced local guides at Interior Fly Fishing(link). GolfKamloops subscriber Trevor McMillan from Surrey BC took home the grand prize and came with good company to enjoy the all-inclusive getaway.
